Refund Policy

Version 1.0 · 27 July 2026

Thirty days, no questions asked. This page explains exactly what that means, how to ask, and the small number of situations it does not cover — so you can read it before buying rather than after.

The short version. Email support@altypist.com within 30 days of your purchase and we refund it in full. You do not have to give a reason, you do not have to prove anything, and we will not try to talk you out of it. We would rather refund one person than have anyone feel stuck with software that is not right for them.

Try it before you pay

Every copy of Altypist runs for 7 days with all features, no card and no account. That trial exists so a refund is rarely necessary — dictation either fits how you work or it does not, and a week is enough to know. If you have not used the trial yet, start there.

Licences

Starter, Pro and Studio licences are refundable in full within 30 days of purchase. On refund your licence key is deactivated, which stops recognition in the app; the app itself stays on your Mac until you remove it, and nothing you dictated is affected, because we never had it.

There is no restocking fee, no partial refund and no proration: within 30 days you get all of it back.

If you subscribed monthly

The monthly plan has been withdrawn; Altypist is sold once. If you subscribed while it existed, nothing about your subscription changed. It keeps working on the terms you agreed to until you cancel; cancelling stops the next charge and never cuts you off in the middle of a period you have paid for; and a charge taken after you cancelled is our error, which we refund in full whenever you notice it. If you would rather put what you have already paid towards a one-time licence, write to us and we will work it out in your favour.

Organisations and volume licences

Volume purchases (20 seats and up) carry the same 30 days from the date of purchase. Beyond that, two specific commitments:

What this does not cover

Stated plainly, so nothing here is a surprise:

Your statutory rights

If you are a consumer in the UK or the EU, you have a statutory right to withdraw from a distance purchase of digital content, normally within 14 days. Some vendors ask you to waive it at checkout when a download starts immediately. We do not rely on that waiver. Our 30 days are longer than the statutory 14 and easier to use, and nothing on this page limits a right you have under the law of your own country.

How to ask, and how long it takes

  1. Email support@altypist.com from the address you bought with, or tell us the order reference. Your licence key helps but is not required.
  2. We confirm by reply, normally within one working day.
  3. The refund goes back to the card or account you paid from. Card networks usually take 5–10 working days to show it, which is their timing rather than ours.

A reason is welcome but never required. If you do tell us what went wrong, it tends to get fixed — several things in the app exist because someone explained why they were asking for their money back.

Where we are in the launch. Altypist is in early access and card checkout is being set up; the payment provider will be named here and in our DPA before any card payment is taken. This policy applies from the first sale onward — and to anyone who bought through our earlier checkout, on the same 30-day terms.

This policy sits alongside our Terms of Service. Where the two differ on refunds, this page is the one we honour.
